JBV's High Quality Custom Lenses
Custom Precision Plano Cylindrical Lenses
|
|
JBV supplies UV grade fused silica cylindrical lenses designed for use with excimer and UV laser
beams. High efficiency anti-reflection coatings increase transmission performance from 193nm
to 438nm.
Cylindrical lenses are either plano-convex or plano-concave in form; and rectangular, circular,
or square in shape. Other special shapes are available on request.
These lenses are used in applications requiring magnification in one dimension only, such as in
transforming a point image into a line image, or changing the height of an image without
changing the width, or visa-versa. Typical applications include slit and line detector array
illumination.

Custom Plano-Convex Lenses
| |
These lenses have positive focal lengths, converge incident light, and form both real
and virtual images. They approach best-form for infinite and near infinite conjugate
ratios, with the preferred focal plane being that adjacent to the plano surface.
JBV supplies custom cutting, coating, edging and complete fabrication. Send us your
drawings and specifications or call for a free consultation.

Custom Bi-Convex Lenses
| |
Like the plano-convex lens, the bi-convex lens has a positive focal length and forms
both real and virtual images.
Symmetry is assured by finishing both surfaces with the same tool. Because of
symmetry, several aberrations nearly cancel at unit conjugate ratio (s=s'=2f). This
includes coma, distortion, and lateral chromatic aberration.
At this conjugate ratio, spherical aberration is the minimum possible with a
single element, and bi-convex lenses are, by definition, best form. These aberrations
grow as conjugate ratios depart from unity.
JBV supplies custom cutting, coating, edging and complete fabrication. Send us your
drawings and specifications or call for a free consultation.

Custom Bi-Concave Lenses
| |
The bi-concave negative lens is used to expand light beams or to increase system
focal length where minimal material pathlength to reduce absorption is desirable.
JBV supplies custom cutting, coating, edging and complete fabrication. Send us your
drawings and specifications or call for a free consultation.

Custom Meniscus Lenses
| |
Meniscus lenses can be designed with a shape that results in no additional
spherical aberration or coma being introduced into the system. This shape is called the
aplanatic form. It is possible to achieve the aplanatic form only when the lens is
operated at a magnification that is numerically equal to the reciprocal of the index of
refraction of the material from which it is made.
The meniscus lens is most often used in conjunction with another lens to produce
a system with a longer or shorter focal length than the original lens.
JBV supplies custom cutting, coating, edging and complete fabrication. Send us your
drawings and specifications or call for a free consultation.

Custom Plano-Concave Lenses
| |
The plano-concave lens offers minimum spherical aberration at negative-infinite or
near infinite conjugate ratios, with the concave surface facing the longest
conjugate distance.
A collimated beam incident on the curved surface will be transformed into a divergent
beam emerging from the plane surface. The divergent beam will appear to emerge from a
smaller virtual point source than if the plane surface had faced toward the collimated beam.
Reversing the rays, a convergent beam is transformed with least additional
spherical aberration into a collimated beam if the convergent beam is incident on the
plane surface.
JBV supplies custom cutting, coating, edging and complete fabrication. Send us your
drawings and specifications or call for a free consultation.

Custom Pinholes
| |
Pinholes are useful in laser technology for spatial filtering, image analysis, and
image processing. The pinholes are precision drilled into stainless steel stock.
High energy precision pinholes are designed to be used in areas requiring high
heat dissipation. The pinholes are fabricated from thin copper sheets which are
drilled and black anodized. One surface is coated with gold to reflect the
incoming high energy laser radiation.
JBV supplies custom cutting, coating, edging and complete fabrication. Send us your
drawings and specifications or call for a free consultation.
